7 ways to keep your teeth white

The first thing we notice after seeing our customers get their teeth whitened is the immediate smile on their face. It’s amazing how much happiness a bright smile brings to people.

While we want to be able to make your teeth whiter immediately by way of a treatment, we also want you to keep your teeth white naturally. To do that you need to do certain things. Here are 8 tips…

1. Eat raw vegetables and fruit

We all know that eating fruit and veg is good for our bodies. It’s also good for our teeth. Foods such as apples, carrots and nuts can help remove surface stains as well as plaque that leads to cavities.

2. Brush your tongue

Yes, that’s right – brushing your tongue can help keep your teeth white (as well as keeping your breath fresh). Bacteria can accumulate on your tongue which can lead to your teeth being stained.

3. Throw out your old toothbrush

Brushing your teeth with the same toothbrush for a long time is extremely bad for your teeth. Once the bristles look tired, that means your brush isn’t cleaning your teeth properly. As a rule of thumb, change your toothbrush every three months.

4. Rinse your mouth with water after eating citrus fruits

While they’re good for their vitamin C, the acid in fruits like oranges, lemons and limes is extremely bad for your teeth as it erodes enamel. Subsequently, your teeth can stain easier. To avoid your enamel being eroded, rinse your mouth with water after eating them.

5. Rinse your mouth with cider vinegar mixed with water

If you’re looking for something natural in your kitchen to whiten your teeth, grab the nearest bottle of cider vinegar, grab a glass and make a solution of one-third vinegar, two-thirds water. Might not be the most pleasant taste, but it will be good for your teeth.

6. Avoid dark foods

We’ve already written about foods you should avoid to keep your teeth white, but of all those, the one we can’t stress enough are the dark foods. We know you love blueberries, soy sauce and coffee…but don’t go near them if you want to keep your teeth white!

7. Don’t drink energy drinks

They might keep you awake on a Monday morning after a hectic weekend, but energy drinks usually contain acid that does the same amount of damage to your teeth that acid drinks do. If you’re looking for a pep in your step try a green tea or some nuts for an energy boost.
